A CONFERENCE ON “ATATÜRK AND HISTORICAL AWARENESS” BY OUR CENTRAL DIRECTOR AT THE 9TH MAIN JET BASE COMMAND

Balıkesir University Ottoman Heritage Application and Research Center Director and Balıkesir University Faculty of Science and Letters Department of History Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serap Sunay gave a lecture titled “Atatürk and Historical Awareness” at the program organized at the Balıkesir 9th Main Jet Base Command on the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the passing of the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. entitled “Atatürk and Historical Consciousness.”

Assisted by the Garrison and 9th Main Jet Base Commander Air Force Brigadier General Gökhan Gürakar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serap Sunay emphasized Atatürk's understanding of history, the connection between the Turkish nation's goal of becoming a modern nation drawing strength from its deep-rooted past, and the importance of Atatürk's historical consciousness in guiding today's youth. Participants gained valuable insights into Atatürk's historical perspective during the conference.

At the end of the conference, which was part of the commemoration program, Air Force Brigadier General Gökhan Gürakar, Commander of the Garrison and 9th Main Jet Base, delivered the closing speech. He emphasized the importance of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's leadership, ideas, and historical consciousness for the Turkish Armed Forces and our nation, expressing respect, gratitude, and longing for Atatürk. The program concluded with a photo session in memory of the day.
